Braids

‌Columns of black smoke, rising higher and higher, more and more often, transform the familiar landscape exploding in the news feed. These black columns are so numerous that they form a temple-like vault overhead, replacing the once-calm sky. Below, on the ground, houses, forests, people, and the soil itself are burning. The sky is saturated with this smoky grief and falls with a sticky rain of burning ashen tears. In my installation, the images of columns of smoke that I saw in the online chronicle of war days are transformed into girls' braids, soft, warm, mourning. Into the braids of those who wait and live in the midst of ashes.
Cotton and woolen threads, velvet, pearls, glass beads, sequins, PLA plastic, wire, steel.
